Welcome to the web site of the UBC Physics Society.

We are a club for people who enjoy physics or just happen to hang around the Hennings building a lot during the school year. We also sell exam packages for first year physics classes, run a physics lecture series for undergrads, organize a delegation to an annual physics undergraduate conference (CUPC), and maintain a tutor list. We have a lounge in Hennings 307 with a microwave, study carrels, a fridge, snacks(75¢ to $1) and pop(75¢), and a foosball table. We sponsor our own intramural sports teams and hold a few social events throughout the year.

Come join us!

Beef and Pizza

The Physsoc will be holding the traditional beef and pizza event from 12 to 2 on Tuesday November 22th. This event is all about you! Come to the physsoc lounge, eat some pizza and share any beefs you may have about your professors, courses, labs, exams etc. Essentially if you have a problem with anything in the Physics department drop in and let us know! We'll be collecting all the beef and submitting it anonymously to the department on your behalf. In the likely case where you don't have any beef about our awesome department you can still come by and have a slice of pizza with your super cool physics pals. Did we mention the pizza is free?

Sports Teams

Tired of long lectures? Feeling antsy from sitting in those uncomfortable chairs? Well then you need to go get active and the Physsoc has some teams for you to join!

The Physsoc is sponsoring several sports teams this fall and we're looking for new recruits. Whether you want to shoot some hoops, or launch some frisbees, or even something somewhat in between (we have soccer as well) the Physsoc has you covered. You might ask "Oh Physsoc, but I don't even know how to kick a frisbee" well that's okay you don't have to have any experience to join our teams! (however it would be nice if you knew how a frisbee works).

If you're interested in joining the basketball team please contact alicechik91@gmail.com, if you would rather play ultimate frisbee or soccer please contact matus.bundala@gmail.com, all applicants for ultimate frisbee must be serious about attendance, that is no skipping practices. Please include which team you are interested in joining in the subject line.

We hope to hear from you soon, and remember, you can't spell physical sports without Physsoc!
