This year we will try to use WebCT Vista for the course content. The current web page is located here.
Welcome to the Physics 259 website. Please return to this webpage often, as these pages are updated during the start-of-term period, and this site will be your source of information about the course, as well as handouts, lab-manuals and schedules, etc.
The first order of business in the first week is to prepare yourself for both the laboratory and for the computer lab. The computer lab requires some planning ahead. First, you will need to set-up a UBC Netinfo id, if you haven't already acquired one. After allowing a day for this to kick in, you will be able to self-register for a lab account at one of the computers in Hennings 205 marked "REGISTER HERE". Allow a further day before you plan to use your new physics account. You will also eventually need to purchase a printer quota - these can be obtained in the physics main office - Hennings 325.
To prepare for the laboratory, download and print the instructions for Expt. 1, from the "Course Schedule" link to the left. This is also a good opportunity to browse the rest of the information on the site. Don't forget to purchase a laboratory notebook before coming to your first lab next week. The first rule you will encounter is NO LOOSELEAF NOTES. If you don't arrive with with a notebook, you'll be sent running to the bookstore before you can start the lab!
