Text: Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by D. Griffiths
If you're looking for more:
  • Introduction to Quantum Physics by French and Taylor (lower level than Griffiths, great for review)
  • The Feynman Lectures on Physics Vol. 3 by Feynman, Leighton & Sands (great book, enjoyable review reading)
  • Quantum Mechanics, vols I & II by Cohen-Tannoudji (yes, this is the guy who got the Nobel Prize last year for cooled trapped atoms.. plenty of worked examples)
  • Quantum Mechanics by Merzbacher (slightly more advance level than Griffiths)
  • Quantum Mechanics,vols I & II by Messiah (if you want something to sink your teeth into -- graduate level QM)

You will find we will cover most of the material in Griffiths, Chapters 1-5, plus some supplementary material.

PHYS 402 - offered in the winter term next year -- covers the material in the rest of Griffiths plus more advanced topics in QM.

Grading: 50% Final Exam
20% Assignments (10 will be assigned over the term)
15% Midterm Exam 1 -- Thursday, February 11
15% Midterm Exam 2 -- Thursday, March 25
