The network equations of paper 40 are
refined and their properties studied for the case of a non-random one-dimensional
shape space. The clones of the system are ordered such that neighboring clones
have the greatest similarity and clones that have the greatest separation have
the greatest complementarity. A remarkable finding in this system is a tendancy
for complementary pairs of clones to have parallel dynamics. It is also shown
that the dynamics of such N-dimensional systems can be represented in a plane
using distance coefficients, as defined in paper 50.
