Entry for Wednesday November 1, 2006

Mr. Quakers makes his first appearance, acting as DJ for the day. Read up on Quacker's previous adventures here, here, here, and here.
Weather update, taken from the TV scroll (which is also broadcast on the local interweb).
Tape tower! You got your white (duct) tape, aluminum tape (conductive and non-conductive), mylar tape, masking tape, kapton tape, caution tape, packing tape, self-vulcanizing tape and electrical tape. I forgot to include teflon tape in the tower. See a previous attempt in Palestine.
Ivan the Terra Bus comes to pick us up. With the arrival of the second BLAST team, as well as the first members of ANITA (one of the other balloon experiments in Antarctica this year) and more CSBF personnel, we are now more than 20 travelling to the LDB base and can no longer fit in two vans. Ivan is much slower than the vans, giving us more time to enjoy the scenery (and eventually more sleep, once we get tired of the scenery).
Boarding Ivan.
Scenery.
Chris's snow school, as seen from the road on our drive in to LDB this morning. I'm glad I didn't have to sleep out there last night.
Party in the BLAST highbay! Don, Marco, Enzo and Marie get right down to work.
Everybody (except me) at work.
Aligning the optics box. Check out the sweet new green holographic laser!
