PHYS 301, Homework Set III, Sept. 27, 2006

Read Chapter 3. Especially 3.2, 3.3, 3.4. We are going to use spherical and cylindrical coordinates extensively. Please review the relevant materials if you are not familiar with these coordinates.

Most of the topics to be covered in HW sets strongly overlap with the topics discussed or to be discussed in lectures. In this set, the first two problems are about image charges. Problem 3,4,5,6 are related to what we are going to investigate on Monday and Wednesday; and if you want to start working on these problems before my lectures, please read Example 3.4 and 3.8.
