GUARANTEED SUPPORT
All students who are accepted
to our graduate program are guaranteed
at least a minimum level of financial support, sufficient to cover
tuition and living expenses. The funding levels for the 2011-2012
academic year are shown in the table below. These levels are
guaranteed
for two years for students in the M.Sc. or M.A.Sc. program and
three
years for students in the Ph.D. program, subject to satisfactory
performance in T. A. and R. A. duties and academic progress.

Scholarship students may receive TA funding as
space permits. (amount subject to change)
- Supervisors may elect
to pay more than the minimum amounts
if consistent with funding agency rules.
- Limited to the first 2
years of an MSc/MASc program and the
first 4 years of a PhD program (amount subject to
change).
- NSERC PGS-D
scholarship holders will receive $6,000 in the
first year of their program and $4,000 in subsequent
years as for as
long as they hold their scholarship. Students holding an
FQRNT
scholarship will receive $2,000 per year. FYF holders
will receive
$4,000 per year for as long as they hold their
scholarship.
- International students
pay tuition of $7,200, but receive
an International
Partial
Tuition Award of $3,182
unless they are receiving external
funding. When the IPTA ends, the department will provide
an award equal
to the difference between international and domestic
tuition (amount
subject to change).
- Includes AMS extended
medical and dental plan and transit
U-pass (fees subject to change).
