Welcome to Electronics Lab - Hennings Bld, Room 254 (Mezzanine Level)
Elab Hours of Operation [Monday to Friday]:
< 08:15 - 10:00 >
< 10:15 - 12:00 >
< 12:30 - 15:00 >
< 15:15 - 16:00 >
Features/abilities and Elab's function:
- The Electronics Lab (aka 'Elab') assists researchers and graduate students with their projects.
- Inventory of various electronics parts, through hole components, SMD components, wires, and connectors.
These parts are available to Physics & Astronomy students in *small* quantities and/or emergency use.
- The "Contact Person" will assist students or faculty when they come to the Elab.
The "Contact Person" is clearly indicated on the sign which is visible immediately upon entering the Elab.
All parts requests or help should be directed to the "Contact Person", before asking the other technicians in the lab, unless "Contact Person" is not available.
Visitors should not help themselves to parts and catalogs on their own.
Undergrads will need authorization (signature) from their supervising instructor to withdraw parts from the Elab.
- Work Orders:
Most of the time the Elab is working on research projects directed by Department faculty members. However, any assistance requiring more than an hour's work can be made into a work order.
General Advice before requesting Elab's assistance
- Ideally, come to the Elab knowing your needs! (parts list, schematics, application requirements, power calculations worked out, etc). We can not do your homework for you. Calculations are the work for the student. If you need advice that's ok, that is what we are here for, however if it's very involved your instructor may be better suited to help you.
- Come to us in advance of you deadlines! We might not be able to help in short time situations.
