* This problem set will not be collected or graded. It is however highly recommended that you work out these problems in preparation for the final exam.

Homework must be handed in
by the end of the lecture on the date listed above. Overdue papers are subject to penalty specified below. Please hand in your homework in person; a TA will come to collect papers at the end of the lecture. Exceptionally, if you cannot make it to class for a legitimate reason, you may submit scanned assignment by email. Please submit such papers directly to the Marking TA (listed above) and accompany your submission with an explanation why you could not make it to class.

Group discussion of Problem Sets is encouraged, but the solutions you hand in must be your own work. This means you should not be looking at anybody's notes or assignment while writing up your solutions and you should not share your completed Problem Set with anybody else.  UBC takes academic misconduct very seriously, and the penalties are stiff.  This includes copying of homework, cheating on exams and plagiarism. Please familiarize yourself with the official University regulations on this matter by reading the appropriate section of the UBC calendar.

Late homework policy:
Assignments handed in after the deadline will have their score reduced by a factor (1-t/T) where t is the time past due in hours and T=24h. After 24 hours solutions are posted on the course website and no more homeworks are accepted.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Responsibility lies with the student to hand-deliver any overdue assignment to the course TA and have it time-stamped. There is no guarantee that the TA will be available to accept the homework outside the lecture and no other person is authorized to do this. If you leave your paper in the mailbox or under the door it will be time-stamped when found.  It is by far best to hand in assignments on time!
